MOTTO FOR EVERY TOPIC

I want to tell you about one of my ideas. I like to use a special motto for each topic we study. They are often printed on colourful papers to make them more bright and memorable for students. On the begining of the topic I put the motto on the blackboard and repeat it with children and discuss it. During the next lessons children use the motto in their speaking ang writing. At the end of the topic they usually pass me a composition (written or oral).
The title of such composition is the motto of the topic.
It helps to enrich student's outlook and train their creative thinking.
You can use my examples or create your own!

THE MAGIC BOX

"THE MAGIC BOX" is a  colourful box that can be used to work with kids of different age in different parts of the lesson.

You can use it in the beginning to review the words. For junior students put little toys or things inside your magic box. Show them to your kids one by one. Let it be a mystery for them. Kids will name the thinds using topical vocabulary. This method is not new, but I put things into a special box to make the process more exciting.
For elder children you can use cards with pictures of necessary words. As well it would be nice to write transcription on the pieces of paper to teach reading.
This box can be also used to put different individual tasks into it. Make it a kind of lottery. In such way the individual task can become a prise, but not a punishment.
So as you can see it is a great field for your imagination. But I'm sure that a bright mysterious box will help you to make your students interested :)

STARTING A NEW BOOK

Today is a wonderful evening to start reading a new book. My friend gave me a magnificent book to spend time with. "The Lord of the Rings" is not only an excellent novel, but aslo a memorable thing for me.
When I was a student of Poltava Pedagogical University I sometimes missed my double-periods. You see I am an awful "owl" and it is a great problem for me to get up early in the morning. Unfortunately, very often the first double-period (that started at 8:30 a.m.) was Eglish. My best frienf Vera had the same problem. It was a difficult struggle between our consciousness and desire to sleep! As I said sometimes desire to sleep won :(
Our teacher invented an interesting punishment for us. We had to make the translation of any English book. So it was "The Lord of the Rings" that helped us to keep the punishment.
Today I take it with a breathtaking pleasure and the desire to fall in to it's mighty world!

Autumn Inspiration

The most amusement season of the year is autumn. I really like it because it's "gold" inspires me. Every teacher would say that autumn is the beginning of new school year, new projects, new ideas and new impressions.
It is October. Lovely yellow leaves fall down from the trees making our everyday life colourful. Using these leaves you can create interesting compositions to decorate your classroom before Halloween. You can make a contest between kids for the best Halloween costume made of leaves. I'm sure students will surprise you!
Besides it is actually a good idea to make a garland of leaves with different wishes, or greetings, or words that are necessary to be remembered.
As you can see, leaves can become a good material to create interesting decorations, tasks and projects. I wish you inspiration and good luck!

OUR FIRST STEPS TO MAKE KIDS HAPPY

Our school is situated in a small, but picturesque village. Unfortunately there was no place to have rest in Khomutets. So our school took part in the contest organized by National Ukrainian Foundation "Step by Step" and won a summ of money to create our own project. We found partners to take part in the project. Due to our imagination, work, help of the Foundation and the partnership it became possible to create a playground for the kids, who live in this wonderful village!
